Visiting the Athens Olympic Museum, you will have the opportunity to walk through the history of the Olympic Games in a contemporary, bright, and interactive environment. You will also be treated with spectacular views of the Athens Olympic Stadium and have the chance to walk in the Athens Olympic Athletic Complex afterwards.
Upon entering the permanent exhibition, you will start your tour by following the timeline of the history of the Olympic Games, where you will be discovering their origins, the ancient Olympia, the rediscovery of the Olympic ideals, the revival of the Games in modern times, and all editions of the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. These will be followed by the presentation of the modern Olympic Movement through phygital exhibits and a collection of Olympic Torches, the presentation of Greek Olympic and Paralympic medalists and a panorama of sports and athletes' equipment.

What to expect
Things to look out for
To live the experience of the footrace athlete in antiquity, you may enter the ancient Olympia Stadium hall and compete in running. Learn about the preparation of the athletes and the rules of the Games. Don’t miss the wall size photos of the Olympia excavations and the city of Athens during 1884, just before the revival of the Games in modern times. A great stop in your tour will be the Panathenaic stadium and the Athens 1896 Olympic Games, where you will be able to sit on the stalls of the stadium and watch the original diary of the Games. A couple of unmissable digital exhibits are to be found in the center of the hall showcasing all the Editions of the Games, as well as in the hall of the Olympic Movement. A phygital book with a realistic/dynamic page flip effect that showcases what Olympism consists of. Finally close your tour with the screening of an inspirational movie about the endeavor and struggle of the Olympic athletes.
Helpful Tips
The Athens Olympic Museum is located within the western part of the former International Broadcasting Center (IBC) of ATHENS 2004, now Golden Hall Shopping Center, and can be accessed via both the shopping center and via a footbridge with the Athens Olympic Center “Spiros Louis” (O.A.K.A.).
It is just a 15 minute drive from both downtown and the Northern Suburbs; you can arrive either through Kifisias Avenue or through Attiki Odos.
Entrance to the Museum is allowed to guide dogs for people with vision impairment.
